My mom, never gave in on the Santa thing; even when I was a teenager, we'd go outside on Christmas eve and look at the stars and try to see Santa's sleigh. By then, I knew that a physical Santa did not exist, but the idea of "Santa" had morphed into the embodiment of parental love and generosity without expectation of recompense. I still believe in this Santa. I think Santa is a great symbol of selflessness and that is what it means for me.

Don't worry, it gets lots easier! They have become so independent that I didn't even go to the school the first day. I just sent them all and told the older ones to make sure the younger ones got to the right class. Of course I took the kindergartener to her class for the first 2 weeks. And then she was so confident about finding her classroom that I just drop her off in front of the school!

As for ballet, by friend here who has her M.S. in ballet answered that question for me: Russian Bolsheviks do not ALLOW girls to sign up for ballet until the age of 10, as they are not physically (or emotionally, for that matter) mature enough to handle it. Classes before then are fluff, and might be fun, but will also drain your pocket book. How's that for an answer?

Oh, here is the other thought that I had. I say better to have pseudonymns. Even though everyone from your computer to your checkstand knows who you are, why make it easy for someone with ill intentions? It is like locking your car door. Sure a determined theif can break in anyway, but you by locking the door, you at least close the door for a "crime of opportunity." Know what I mean?

I would either use their real names or nicknames you call them frequently (or both, we'll figure out who's who). If somebody really wanted to find out, they probably could anyway and it will make it easier for you in the long run. You probably don't need to worry if your readers know your kids names. I personally call my two kids girlie and lil buddy online, but I actually call them by those names more than their real ones and they aren't old enough to be embarrassed by the nicknames yet. I eventually plan on using their real names since my claims that they have pseudonyms and nobody knows it's them probably won't make up for the fact that I'm writing about them for the world to read.

I'm looking forward to having garden salsa too...only mine will have to be in a week or two. My garden is developmentally delayed this year! Blame it on the wedding & the weather, I say!
