Salads and Breads

Salads are so versatile! They can be veggie or fruit, or any combination. They can be hot or cold, dressed or not, jello or potato. We eat them for lunch, dinner as main dishes or sides. They can be oh so healthy, or downright decadent!

For the most part, in our house, the salad is a spontaneous chopping and tossing of our favorite leaves and veggies into a lovely blue ceramic bowl.

Breads on the other hand, have gotten kind of a bad rap in recent years. Down with carbs! If, however, your choice of bread is in the whole grain variety, you may have this wonderful treat. I admit to eating my fair share of white baked fluffiness straight out of the oven, and will most likely share a fair amout of those recipes. Who can resist a lovely homemade dinner roll? Or golden browned waffles? Not me! I try to combine a whole-grained approach with the occasional treat, to assuage my guilty dieter’s conscience:)
